Seachtain na Gaeilge is an international Irish language festival and a great celebration of our Irish language and culture. It takes place in many other countries as well as here at home.
Each year in March several events are organised to enjoy celebrating the Irish language and the Irish culture.
1st to 17th March 2019
This school year Seachtain na Gaeilge runs from 1 to 17 March 2019. Pupils will make a great effort to speak in Irish as much as they can during this week. It would really help them if you could do the same at home. I’m sure most of you can remember the “cúpla focail” and your children will have great fun correcting you! Speaking a language is the only way to develop it – and all your children will be doing oral Irish exams in Secondary school so why not get started now. On 14 March we will celebrate ‘Lá Glas’. Children are invited to wear green and Irish colours on the day.

1st to 17th March 2018
During Seachtain na Gaeilge, which ran from 1 to 17 March 2018, we made a real effort to speak Irish and to use the phrases we learn in class. Several events were organised to enjoy celebrating the Irish language and the Irish culture. On 16 March school uniforms were abandoned as pupils and staff all dressed in green and Irish colours for “Lá Glas”. We really enjoyed our annual celebration with Irish songs, poems and dances in the hall.
