St. Brigid’s N.S. has received many awards over the years
In our school achievements are highlighted and qualities such as leadership, teamwork, active citizenship, initiative and creativity are rewarded. As a school we are extremely proud of the many awards we have received over the years.
School of Excellence Award
During the 2010-2011 school year we received a School of Excellence Award from Waterford IT for Co-Operative Teaching and In-Class Support. Since then we have received a similar award for teaching in the areas of Maths, English, Science and History. In the 2016-2017 school year we received the School of Excellence Award for our work in the school garden.

Green Schools
The Green Schools programme involves the whole school and so every child and staff member in the school plays their part in recycling, saving energy and conserving water. We have attained the Green School status and are now working towards our 6th Green Flag. We will be working on Global Citizenship. To date we have flags for Litter & Waste, Energy, Water, Transport and Biodiversity.
Our school also works very hard to create different gardens located on the school grounds and every year we organise a garden competition. In the 2016-2017 school year we even received the School of Excellence Award for our work in the school garden.
Active School Flag
For a number of years we have been introducing different activities that help us implement the Active School Flag Programme. One of which is our annual Active School Week, with our Sports Day. One of the aims of this programme is to raise awareness, in the whole school community, of the need for physical activity in a healthy lifestyle. The Active School Flag is awarded to schools who strive to achieve a physically educated and physically active school community. In 2018 we received our Active School Flag.

Other Awards
Each year since school year 2007-2008, we have received a Discover Primary Science Award for Science and Maths. In 2016 were awarded the Junior Entrepreneur Flag and in 2018 we received the Digital School Award.
More about the Digital Schools Award
On four occasions in recent years we won the schools award in the Carlow Pride of Place Competition. We were also thrilled our school won the award for the best large school for the work the pupils entered for Art, Handwriting, Poetry and Essays in the Tullow Show Competition.
