School Calendar

Welcome to Ms. O’Brien’s class!

Take a look at what we got up to this year.

Christmas cheer spread through our classroom in December. Our classroom was full of Christmas carols and festive art. We were busy getting ready for the school Carol Service.

In Aistear there was a dress up group, a small world area and an arctic area! Can you see the fun we had? Our reading was based on the Post Office. We are becoming very fluent readers. We love to sing our Irish songs and read about Daidì na Nollaig!

We worked on number eight this month- making groups of eight and adding two numbers to give us eight.

We used percussion instruments to create the sounds of Santa’s workshop. Have a look at our library. It is full of Christmas books. Fifth and Sixth class came to visit this month and read us some stories.

This month we learned all about the Café, we set up a café in Aistear and learned the poem Pancakes. We learned some new Irish songs too! This month we also began learning about the Arctic! We now know lots of facts about the polar bear!

We are lucky to have Music Generation each Tuesday morning, we are singing beautifully.

We have learned the names of 2d and 3d shapes in Maths and we went on a Maths hunt to see what we could find.

Eddie Teddy has visited lots more houses. We finished up the month putting up our decorations and awaiting the Toy Show!

This October we learned all about Autumn and Halloween. Our classroom was filled with ghosts and ghouls, witches and wizards. We learned all about light and shadows, made clay pumpkins and we had Music Generation each week. We were lucky enough to take part in Yoga again this month too. We had our last session just before midterm.

We went on an Autumn nature hunt, looking at different types of trees and naming different parts of trees.

We are already looking forward to November!

There are twenty two busy Senior Infants in our classroom who love to paint, sing, dance and have fun learning! Our classroom is a hive of activity and full of resources. We really enjoy hands on learning and using resources such as cubes, Numicon and concrete materials to help us learn! PE days are on Tuesday and Thursday. We love to sing songs, say poems especially our counting songs and rhymes. Every day we read a story together in order to encourage a lifelong love of reading.
