Welcome to Ms. Byrne’s class!
There are 16 of us in all. We are lucky to have a small class this year. This year we will learn Guitar with Paul as part of Music Generation. We look forward to taking part in Football and Hurling competitions. This will be our second year taking part in the Accelerated Reading Programme and we cannot wait to get stuck in!
June
June has been an exceptionally fun and busy month in 4th Class. It’s hard to believe we are at the end of the school year, and what a great year we have had!
One of the highlights of the month was our school tour to Dunmore East Adventure Centre on the 19th of June. The children enjoyed the wibit, kayaking, paddle boarding, caving, rock climbing and archery. It was a fantastic day!
Active Week was another highlight this month. The children enjoyed boxercise, basketball, basketball and soccer leagues, and a brilliant Sports Day – with races, wellie throwing, unihoc, penalty shoot outs, obstacle courses, yoga and even a 99 from the ice cream van!
We had a Wellbeing Day and a ‘Maidin Chaife’ on the 11th of June. The children enjoyed a cup of tea and cake as they played games and chatted to their friends in Irish. They also made Origami, walked to Huntington Castle and participated in ‘Drop Everything and Dance’, to mark our Wellbeing Day.
On top of all these wonderful activities, the children created some lovely Summer Art, they completed our Tullow Show Art and Handwriting entries and enjoyed a STEM project involving parachutes.
It is now time to say goodbye for the summer. I hope you all have a lovely summer and thank you for all the support and cooperation throughout the year.

Throughout the month of May, the children have enjoyed tag rugby and basketball. They have really enjoyed mini games each week with John in tag rugby and improved our basketball skills with Ita.
This month the children also completed their French lessons with Ms. Osborne. They wrote post cards in French with all the new French phrases they’ve learned. Ms. Osborne also treated the children to crepes on their last day. In Maths this month, the children learned about Weight and Chance. They really enjoyed games with Chance and using different weighing sales to weigh various items in the classroom.
With the lovely warm weather, we did some Religion and SPHE outside this month. The pupils learned all about the Conclave and Mary for the month of May. We also had a few picnics outside this month.
Well done to Caoimhe and Saoirse in 4th Class who played in the Cumann na mBunscoil final against Kildavin. Although the girls didn’t win on the day, the two girls played brilliantly in very challenging conditions. Well done girls!
This month the children have been learning all about World War 2, and this has been a part of our History, English and Art lessons.
