Welcome to Mrs. Warren’s class!
Take a look at what we got up to this year.
June
We had a great time in June. Our school had Active Schools’ week. Everyone had great funtaking part in all the activities over the week. The weather was sunny with blue skies. There was welly throwing, races, penalty kicks and funny races.
Our class took a trip to Wexford as part of our School Tour. We tried bowling, trampolining, obstacle courses and go kart racing. There was a lego area with fantastic building going on!
Our class had a fun filled month. We tried new activities and had great fun.
May
We had a busy month. There was great excitement as our school ran a marathon. It was great fun and everyone enjoyed the day.
In Science we used magnets and tested items in our classroom to test if they were magnetic or not.
Our class designed posters for the Green School Committee and there were lovely designs.
April
April was a busy time in our class. We have great fun working with Ms. Wadding’s class every week and playing games. We worked on our Green School posters.
In science we experimented with liquids. We mixed oil and water with salt. It was great fun and we created mini lava lamps.
March
We had a very busy month. We celebrated St. Patrick’s Day, an Exotic Animal Farm visited our school and we also tried baking with Mrs. Redmond.
The Exotic Animal farm was very interesting. We were able to view snakes, rabbits, chinchillas, owl and a scorpion among some of the creatures.
Pupilswere very brave and touched the skin of the snake and the feathers of the owl. It was interesting learning about the different traits of the creatures.
Our school celebrated La Glás. It was very enjoyable, and we all dressed up in green.
Mrs. Redmond baked yummy buns this month. We used our Maths skills to measure out the ingredients. The buns tasted delicious.
For Easter, we designed Easter mosaics which turned out very well.
February
February was a busy month for our class. We painted some colourful Valentine’s Day pictures. We practiced mixing shades of pinks and reds. This was part of our Science work where we explored mixing different materials.
Pancake Tuesday also occurred this month. It was great fun mixing different ingredients to create yummy pancakes.
We were also very proud that some pupils received their prizes for The Credit Union Art Competition. We were
delighted to receive our prizes.
January
We had great fun in January. We explored mixing materials in Science. We attempted to make crystals from salt. This month we learned about volcanoes. We mixed vinegar, washing up liquid, bicarbonate of soda and added red food colouring. The result was a bubble eruption! It was great fun and we enjoyed the results of this experiment.
In our Maths we explored 3D Shapes. We built a variety of structures using a variety of 3D shapes which was great fun.
December
December was a great month for our class. We enjoyed Table quizzes and playing a variety of board games. Our favourite game was Connect 4. We invited pupils from other classes to our room for games and fun. We had great chats about what we were looking forward to about Christmas and ways we could be kind to one another. We met Santa and his helpful elf. We all received a selection box.
Our classroom was decorated for Christmas which we enjoyed doing. In art we painted reindeers, snowmen, and a snowy Christmas window. It was a month filled with fun and joy.
November
We had a very busy month. Our school collected Christmas boxes to give to the Christmas Shoebox Appeal. We gave four boxes from our class.
Our class enjoyed integration this term. We practiced yoga with Ms. Wadding’s class. Pupils from Ms. Wadding’s class visited our room over the month. Pupils played board games, took part in oral language activities and SPHE. Everyone chatted and shared their thoughts on their favourite day.
October
October was a busy month for our class. During this month we had Maths week and we also learned about Halloween. We enjoyed reading fun stories about Wanda Witch. We carved pumpkins and decorated our classroom. We went on a walk to Huntington Castle dressed in our costumes. Thankfully the weather stayed dry. We also created lovely Artwork and designed our own haunted
house scene. Staff also dressed up and looked scary.
During Maths week our class attempted to solve word problems. We also worked on Halloween themed problems in class. We had great fun
during this month
September
September was a busy month in our classroom. We enjoyed nature walks, baking and art activities. We picked apples from our apple tree on the school grounds. They tasted delicious, we also observed wildlife as part of our SESE learning. We identified butterflies and a grey heron that came to visit.
As part of Science, we looked for the early signs of Autumn in the school grounds. We used checklists to identify types of leaves and trees we
have growing in our school environment.
During September, we enjoyed baking activities. We measured the ingredients carefully when making cupcakes and Rice Crispy buns. They
were very tasty. We had great fun following the instructions.
In Maths, we explored shape and created shape pictures. We worked together to build and create different structures as part of our learning.
