Welcome to Ms. Wadding’s class!
Take a look at what we got up to this year.
June
Our final month of the school year was filled with lots of exciting activities and challenges. We spent an afternoon taking part in shared reading with Mrs O’Meara’s Junior and Senior Infants. We loved helping the younger classes with their literacy skills.
Our ‘teach the teacher’ lessons were all amazing this month! We took part in guided drawing, P.E, sewing demonstrations, science experiments and lots more activities.
Our 3rd class had their school trip in Castlecomer Discovery Park. They had a fabulous time doing the octagon treetop walk and the boating activities.
May
This month in Third and Fourth class we began by receiving a special STEM box with lots of new resources for us to work with. Lucky us!
We also were invited to Kildavin GAA pitch for a day of fun activities. We played lots of games such as football, rounders, hurling and completed some drills.
Our Fourth class went on their school trip to Baltinglass Adventure Centre and had a ball. They participated in kayaking, rope climbing, zip-lining, orienteering and archery.
Finally, we ended our month by participating in the Cruinniú na nÓg project with Rachel and John. We got a taste of how music video recordings are made.
April
We were very busy this month in 3rd and 4th class.
After returning from our Easter Holidays, we have been fortunate enough to work with Ms Brooks. She has been teaching us since we returned and will continue until mid-May.
We have been making our very own personalised school crests with her. Check out some of our designs.
We have been continuing our GAA coaching with Lia, Darragh and Nicole each Friday. We absolutely love it.
Aoibheann, Eve and Sophia won their gymnastics competitions this month. We are thrilled for them that all of their hard work paid off! Well done girls.
March
We began our month in Third and Fourth class by celebrating World Book Day. We also had avisit from an exotic pet farm where we got to meet many different species of animals.
St. Patrick’s Day was also very busy. We had a quiz all about St Patrick’s Day and how it is celebrated all over the world.
We completed our group European projects. We learned lots from
this and cannot wait for the next one.
Also, a very special congratulations to Aoibheann and Ella. Aoibheann won first place at her gymnastics competition in Dublin last weekend and
Ella won first place in the community games art competition.
February
We have had a very busy month in our classroom.
For Valentine’s Day, we created our Compliment Jars. Everyone received six compliments from other children in the class and they stuck these into their jars to keep forever.
We also started our European Country project work. Each group has chosen a country and we will present these to the class in a few weeks.
We were very fortunate this month to have had BEAT 102/103 radio station pay us a very special visit. Ella and Joseph arrived to school in style and we made sure we were there to give them a big welcome!
Ella was gifted her Credit Union Art Competition Prize at a big assembly, which we all celebrated with her.
Finally, eight of our Fourth class girls and boys competed in a Pella blitz in Kildavin. They were absolutely fantastic and enjoyed every minute of it.
January
We had a great start to 2023 here in 3rd and 4th class. We have been learning lots about Ancient Egyptians this month. We completed some fantastic
art based on the tomb of Tutankhamun.
We also completed our goals for 2023, which we have displayed around the class to remind us of them every day.
Finally, we have been really enjoying our time at GAA coaching every Tuesday. We have been learning some new skills each week. We particularly love the games!
December
December was a very busy month.
We had a fantastic time at our Carol Service, which took place before the Christmas break. We worked especially hard on both of our pieces – O Come All Ye Faithful and Oíche Ciúin.
Ella won a prize in the Credit Union Art Competition. We were so proud of her.
Anabel, Emily and Hannah were the three winners of our Christmas card competition in Third and Fourth. Hannah was our overall winner. All entries were amazing. It was a very difficult decision for the judges.
We completed a Christmas Quiz to start off the Christmas holidays, which was very fun! Santa also paid us a very special visit. He came with lovely surprises and a mischievous elf! We were very lucky.
We cannot wait to see what 2023 has in store…

Enjoy the Midterm Break everyone!!
September
We began our exciting year in Third and Fourth class with lots of bright and colourful art work. We created our very own hot air balloons filled with positive quotes to display around our classroom. We also drew our own self-portraits, however we sketched one side of our face only, which was really cool!
Our current reading area in our classroom is where we have been writing the titles of the books that we are reading at the moment. We cannot wait to see how many books we can read from the class library this year.
We also started our swimming lessons every Tuesday. It is definitely our favourite day of the week.
