24 April 2018: Parents' Council Meeting
An extra parents council meeting will be held on Tuesday 24 April from 7.30pm to 8.30pm in Clonegal NS. We will be looking into upcoming events in the school and how we can support the school in these activities. We would really appreciate if parents could attend so that you can play an active part in the decision making. As always you can email suggestions or comments to

10 April 2018: Topics Last Parents' Council Meeting
During the last meeting on 22 March we reviewed the trolley raffle. The raffle brought up 1180 euros and still proves to be a success. Margaret Driver was the big winner of 150 euro. The remainder of the money will be used for school sports and recreation supplies. It was agreed that at least 1 person slotted in worked best. Unfortunately, there were still some gaps in the schedule where support was needed. It is, therefore, necessary to make a schedule and fill the time slots sooner. We will also look into creating a pool of volunteers to lighten everyone's work.

22 March 2018: Parents' Council Meeting
A Parents' Council meeting will be held on Thursday 22nd March from 7.30pm to 8.30pm in Clonegal NS. We will review the trolley raffle amonst other things. We would really appreciate if parents could attend so that you can play an active part in the decision making. We will be issuing a formal “thank you” with respect to the trolley raffle but initially we would like to thank all the parents and public that supported us and those parents that gave their time to help run the sale of tickets. 28 February 2018: Thank you to our Volunteers
We would like to thank all the voluteers that helped us out with the Trolley Raffle. We are always looking for volunteers to help out on special occasions. You can contact the Parents Council members by sending an e-mail to let us know if you can help out.

9 and 10 February 2018: Volunteers needed for Trolley Raffle
We are looking for volunteers for the annual Trolley Raffle which will be held in Supervalu, Bunclody on 9th & 10th February from 10am to 6pm. If you have an hour or two to help us out we would really appreciate it. Should you have any questions about what’s involved, feel free to contact us. Please send an e-mail to if you can help out.

19 December 2017: Volunteers Needed for Wrapping Raffle Prizes
We will be preparing the hampers for the Christmas Raffle on Tuesday 19 at 7pm in the school. We would appreciate a hand to get these together! The draw will take place on Wednesday 20 December.

18 December 2017: Return Raffle Cards and Donations
Your child will have a Raffle Card in their bag today. Raffle prizes include hampers, vouchers and other items. We would really appreciate if you could sell as many lines as possible and return to the school by 18th December 2017. If you need additional card(s), please do not hesitate to contact us! This year, we have added additional lines on the Raffle Card, as this will be our only in-house fundraiser. You will note that the Split-the-Pot has not been running, so we would appreciate your support on this one event.

In order to create the hampers and prizes, we also need donations of non-perishable items also by December 18th. In other years, we have received a great mix of items including the following: Vouchers; - Small craft items; - Tinned foods; - Sweets; - Biscuits; - Dry packed foods e.g. pasta, noodles; - Drinks. Please do not send in any frozen foods, fresh fruit/ meat items or perishable items. Thank you for all your previous generous donations and we wish you and yours a very Happy Christmas!

6 December 2017: New Chairperson Parents' Council
We are delighted to inform you that Alison Murphy will be our new Chairperson going forward. We wish to thank Catherine O’Brien for fulfilling and exceeding in this role over the last number of years.

27 November 2017: Meeting Christmas Activities
It’s that time of year again! We will be holding a meeting to organise the annual Christmas Raffle and a few other festive items. The meeting will be on Monday 27th November from 7.30pm-8.30p.m. in the school. We would really appreciate some volunteers around the Christmas events for your children. Hope to see you there!

24 October 2017: Halloween Party on 27 October from 5 to 7pm
The Parents' Council would like to invite all children, and parents, of Clonegal NS to the Halloween Party in Ben Mulhall Complex in Clonegal for some freaky fun and ghoulish games!! It is required that each family must have an adult present in the hall for the duration of the party. Unaccompanied children will not be allowed to enter.

24 October 2017: New chairperson Parents' Council Needed
The Parent's Council is seeking nominations for the position of the chairperson. Please forward your nominations by 5pm on Friday 24th November. It is vital that the person being nominated is aware of their name being put forward. You can also self nominate if you wish. 18 October 2017: Parents Council AGM at 7.30pm
The following will be on the agenda for the night:

  • Chairperson introduction
  • Review of Previous AGM Minutes
  • Update on the activities carried out by the Parents Council over the last school year
  • Review of the financial activity
  • Election of a new committee
  • Upcoming Event: Halloween

At every AGM the Parents Council committee for the previous year steps down and a new committee is elected. With this in mind we would like to receive nominations for the new committee – this will be done at the meeting from those present on the night. Catherine O’ Brien will be stepping down as Chairperson, after many years of doing a wonderful job. We would strongly encourage parent’s attendance at this event, as without a complete parent’s council we cannot continue to organise events/ fundraisers for the benefit of your children. Just to remind you of some of the events that the Parent’s Council organise: Halloween party/ disco, Christmas hamper raffle, Santa’s visit, and the trolley raffle. Your support is greatly appreciated.

26 September 2017: Parents' Council Meeting at 7.30pm
Thank you to those of you who are involved with the Parents Council. The Parents Council do tremendous work for the school and for your children. If you are already involved with the Parents Council, your involvement is greatly appreciated. If you are not involved, perhaps you would become involved this year. In particular, we would like to encourage parents from the Junior end of the school to become involved. Without new members it is very difficult to organize events and everything done by the Parents Council is for the benefit of your children. It also provides an opportunity for you to become involved in the school community.

June 2017: A Special Note of Thanks and Overview of Activities
We would like to thank you all for the support which you have given the Parents Council over the school year. We also wish to thank Mrs. Cosgrave, Mrs. O’Rourke and the staff for their continued assistance and support. And the Board of Management for their ongoing support. Just to remember that all parents give their time voluntarily for the benefit of your children so we really do appreciate all the time that parents have provided throughout the year. We wish Mrs. Cosgrave a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing her in September.
